“Bushiri release and acquittal imminent” – Legal Expert

Bushiri

Embattled self-proclaimed prophet Shepherd Bushiri and his wife are expected to apply for bail on Wednesday after they were arrested last week on charges of fraud and money laundering.

The two, who were arrested by the Hawks last Friday, received support from followers and believers during their first court appearance on Monday.

Hundreds of supporters congregated outside of the Specialised Commercial Crimes Court to give their support to Bushiri, who is also known as Major 1. Among the supporters was another controversial self-proclaimed prophet, Paseka Mboro Motsoeneng.

Mboro said he was there to give spiritual and moral support to Bushiri and his wife.
Prominent Lawyer Ahitofel Mbatha has said the acquittal of Bushiri and his wife is imminent. “You should understand that the charges against Bushiri and his wife are difficult to prove beyond reasonable doubt.” Said Mbatha

He added “The truth is that Bushiri was being a smart business man. In the process he might have stepped on a grey line but there is a high likelihood that he will be found not guilty. As a lawyer I can safely tell you it is very difficult to prove financial crimes. And in this case, Bushiri has been open enough and has been working hard to proving he had no intention to commit any crime.”
